Leaving a Legacy

Audrie’s love of libraries lives on

Audrie Cudahy.png

For more than 25 years, the Boise Public Library was part of Audrie Cudahy's life.  Audrie received her BPL card in 1999 and remained an enthusiastic reader well into her 90s. In recent years, she was a familiar name to the team at the Bown Crossing branch, calling with long lists of books to place on hold and stopping by at least once a week.

When walking into the library became difficult, curbside pickup kept the books coming. When Audrie stopped driving at age 92, the library’s Home-Based Services team brought library service to her instead.

Audrie passed away in November 2025, but she left one more extraordinary expression of her love for the library: a generous gift to the Foundation through her estate.

We were also fortunate to revisit this handwritten note Audrie shared with the Bown team in 2023. She called it “a love letter to the Boise Public Library system and all of its staff” and wrote about a lifetime of reading that began when she was nine years old.

We are deeply grateful to Audrie for a lifetime spent championing books, libraries and access to reading... and for choosing to make the Library part of her legacy.

Leave a Lasting Legacy

A planned gift can extend your support for Boise’s libraries well into the future. There are several ways you may be able to include the Boise Public Library Foundation in your estate plans, including through a will or trust, beneficiary designation, or other planned gift.

If you are considering a legacy gift, we encourage you to talk with your attorney, financial advisor or tax professional about the option that is right for you. We would also welcome the opportunity to hear about your intentions and discuss how you hope your gift will support Boise’s libraries.

More detailed giving information is coming soon. In the meantime, please contact us if you’d like to start a conversation about leaving a legacy.

Already included us in your plans? We’d be honored to know! Sharing your intentions allows us to thank you and recognize your commitment to the future of Boise’s libraries, if you wish.
